Let me just preface this by saying first of all, a lot of people in Portugal speak English. And a lot of them are offended if you speak Spanish because they don’t want people who are obviously American to assume that they are Spanish. Second, this is a picture of Belem. 
Logan, Simply, Meg and I get on a Metro heading to Belem. This is what happens: 
Me, to random woman on the train: “Belem?” Portugese woman: “I don’t speak English.”
Oh… okay…. Thought that was just a name of a place? 
Train announcer: “próxima parada, belem.” Belem pronounced BLUH. All of us in unison: OH! 
Moral of this story, I don’t speak Portugese.
